Perfect Diner in Amsterdam East: Restaurant Baut

Restaurant BAUT, a little restaurant at the busiest street in Amsterdam East: the Wibautstraat. A few years ago, this area was a true no-go. Too much junks, a lot of criminality and absolutely no-one wanted to live there. But the past two years something changed. And I am sure BAUThas something to do with it.

”Because this truffle cream is…just the best”

The concept

On oktober 2012, Restaurant BAUT opened their doors. BAUT is the first enterprise of ”Nu of Nooit BV” (now or never). This company focuses on temporary and sustainable exploitation of empty buildings. BAUT want to be a ”creative, dynamic, temporary and above all a nice place to eat. For breakfast, lunch, diner, drinks, art, music and so much more”. Well, that is exactly what they became to be. Restaurant Baut is the best place to have an absolute fabulous meal, for a very normal price.

Amsterdam - Restaurant Baut

Diner at wednesday-night

Yesterday, I went to BAUT with two of my friends. We all ordered a glass of wine, and took a look at the menu, printed on carbon-paper. I chose the Italian Tartare di Carciofo: artichokes, truffles, egg and parmesan. It was delicious. And only 10 euro. I was a pity we didn’t had much time (there was a party we needed to be), but otherwise I would definitely have taken the brownie or pear tart. Or just some more bread with truffle creme. Because this truffle cream is…just the best.

We created a list with the best restaurants and cafés for foodies in Amsterdam.
