Travel to Gili
If you’d like to travel to one of the Gili islands, I suggest you to book via a local touroperator and pay between 350.000 and 500.000 rupiah for a return ticket with transport from and to your hotel included. Don’t book via de Gili Bookings website as a single ticket is already around 500.000 rupiah for a single ticket. Although Lonely Planet also writes about the local boat, I suggest you to take one of the Fast Boats, such as Srikandi.
Known as the party-island, I had a great time also because it has beautiful snorkeling and dive spots, relaxing and quiet beaches, nice sun sets and of course beach parties, reggae bars, an Irish pub and much more booze and bite spots. Another good part is that you can walk around the island in just a few hours. Other transportation is by horse.
Discover my time at the island of Gili Trawangan in Lombok, a major stop on the well-beaten trail for backpackers in Southeast Asia.
