Food – Restaurant Weslodge in Toronto
Some restaurants are your favorite because of the food, some just because of their in- and/or exterior. I happen to be a big fan of the rough appearance of Weslodge. This restaurant can be found in one of Toronto’s most lively streets: King St. West. After entering the big yellow doors, you’ll see huge animal heads and antlers on the walls, a massive bar where you can order mainly classic cocktails and attractive people serving you. Weslodge claims to be a modern saloon and they live up to this promise.
Bison on the wall… and on your plate
Pretty people wearing leather gun holsters serve you delicious meals. You’d expect MEAT with this rough interior and that’s correct!
Besides the famous Weslodge Burger and lovely Crispy Hen (yummy!) you can also try something more special.
My friend ordered the Bison (quit suitable with his cousin hanging on the wall ;-)) and really liked it! Honestly, the fish is also worth a try. And I never have dinner at Weslodge without ordering the Grilled Snap Peas (with truffle, radish and parmesan), my all time favorite side dish. The enormous kitchen can be overlooked through big glass windows, something I personally always appreciate in restaurants.
House made tonic and gin
With a huge bar like this, it’s no big surprise that the bartenders are able to make you a special drink. Specialty of the house: the house made tonic and gin. Strong but tasty! Because of the dark atmosphere the restaurant also functions pretty well as a bar for late night drinks, so staying a little longer after you’ve enjoyed dinner at Weslodge is no problem at all!
